Corey joined SCCB after school to pursue his interest in media and help kick-start his career in the industry while gaining skills and valuable experience.
Trey completed his level 2 in hairdressing after school. After a break working in a different industry he realised that hairdressing was his passion and came to South and City College to do his level 3.
Melissa Collins is the UK PR Manager for womenswear at River Island – a high street retailer well known for its stylish, affordable fashion. River Island has over 350 stores across the UK, Ireland and internationally throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Melissa is responsible for ensuring that River Island develop and present a consistent brand identity and image to the press. The media then feed this image through to the consumer via magazines, newspapers, TV/radio and online sites. Melissa works with a team of seven who are constantly liaising with, bloggers, journalists, stylists and presenters, whether it’s by sending samples or selling-in news stories.
Iram began her business and administration apprenticeship two years ago within the college’s very own business services team. Since starting, she has gained valuable experience and is beginning to plan her future having found a profession she’d love to have a career in.
Mangum is currently taking part in a painting and decorating level 1 course and aims to progress onto 2 and 3. He has had many opportunities even acting as health and safety manager while refurbishing the Handsworth Campus. Read More
Samandi is a brickwork student who recently went on a two week work placement with Fairhurst Ward Abbotts at their Newman Brothers Coffin Works project as a brick layer.
Khalid had always been one for trying out new hairstyles and had never considered hairdressing as a career but once he read about the college’s hairdressing course he decided to give it a go. Khalid has completed his level 1 and 2 course and is currently doing level 3 as an apprentice.
Fiona finished A Levels knowing she wanted to study construction at higher education level, but was unsure what to specialise in. A HNC in Construction Management meant she could get high level skills whilst deciding, and not only did she find her specialty but she found a job as a result and is now completing a full degree.
