Abdellatif Mohammed came to the college as a pre-16 student to study construction. He has since taken level two and three courses in wall and floor tiling before securing an Apprenticeship with WB Simpson.
Sam Johnson came to South and City College to study carpentry. In his first year at the college he has learnt a lot of skills and even come third in the regional heat of SkillBuild, competing against many other participants from other colleges. Sam is now hoping to continue his course by going on to level 2 and possibly level 3.
Jermaine Henry previously worked as a courier until deciding he wanted a career change. He signed up to a wall and floor tiling course to retrain himself for a new industry.
“I was a self employed courier but the more I worked the more I felt like it wasn’t the right job for me.
“Tiling has always been an interest of mine. I remember having our bathroom refurbished at home and thinking I could do just as a good a job if I got the right training.
