It has been an important time of year for students across the country, who have recently received the all-important golden envelope holding the tickets to their future. Students choose 3 A Levels based on their passions or subjects that are most beneficial to their career. Many students aspire to get into their first or second choice university whilst others hope to head straight into employment.
We caught up with some of the South & City College students who were enthusiastic about their results and eager to share their thoughts and plans for the future.
Elated with such a positive result, Elizabeth Warrell has just received her A Level results and achieved a B in psychology, A in English literature and an A* in Criminology. Elizabeth had been studying with the college during the pandemic and has since gone on to receive excellent results. Elizabeth commented:
‘’I plan to graduate with a degree in Criminology from the University of Worcester and be settled there. I want to work with prisoners, rehabilitating them and if not, work within the local community to help community projects and reduce crime that way, rather than through policing. We may work with the police to help ease the community from the strain of crime as this is where my passion lies.’’
Robin received 3 A’s in Chemistry, Biology and Politics securing a place at the University of Southampton to study Medicine. Robin reflected on her time at South & City College Birmingham, saying:
‘’It has been amazing studying here. I had to take a lot of responsibility for myself when studying A-levels because it is very demanding. It has been amazing having support from my teachers, especially my politics teacher. She has been fantastic for me this year.’’
South & City College Birmingham Students’ Union President, Cayman Flynn, opened his AS Level results alongside his fellow students, sharing that:
‘’The teaching at South & City College Birmingham has been phenomenal, and I’d like to thank my teacher Annalise. Thanks for helping me secure an A in politics.’’
Finally, Nikhtar shared her AS Level results and achieved a B in Biology, A in Chemistry and a B in Maths. She reflects on her first year, saying:
‘’I studied GCSE’s here and I was happy with my results, so I decided to continue at A-Level. It is a friendly environment, the facilities are great and anything we need for our studies, they are willing to provide, and it is a great, independent learning environment. They do put a lot of emphasis on you picking yourself up and doing what you need to do and that is my preference.’’
It has been exciting speaking to students and seeing their commitment to achieving fantastic results. South & City College Birmingham wish all students leaving a successful future. To current students progressing onto their next year, take inspiration from those before you, take advantage of the support available from student services, your tutors, and the many facilities on offer from the amazing college. Results day can feel incredibly daunting but South & City College Birmingham are certain you will achieve outstanding grades.
