Would you like to give something back to the college and help new students?
It doesn’t matter how long ago you left, whatever path you took after college and wherever you are in the world, we want you to share this with our current and prospective students. Experience is valuable and we want you to inspire others with tales of how your college experience has shaped you.
Speak to students
You could open students’ eyes to the exciting options available to them after college by holding masterclasses, talks and taking part in Q&As, panels and workshops.
Provide a testimonial
We are always on the lookout for former student stories about their journey. Click the link to complete our short interview and we’ll write an article based on your story to be shared with past and present students.
Offer a work experience opportunity
What better way to understand working life than getting real, hands-on experience with a work shadowing or work experience placement? It’s not only invaluable experience for the students, but current employees can gain management experience and you get a helping hand around the workplace for free.
Take on an Apprentice
South and City College Birmingham is an approved supplier of Apprenticeships and is on the Governments Register of Approved Training Providers. We can offer you practical advice, guidance and a recruitment and training service to help you take on an apprentice.
There are now Apprenticeships to cover most occupations starting at entry level and progressing to degree level and beyond. The Government supports Apprenticeships by providing funding and a range of financial incentives all designed to encourage employers to become involved.
Sponsor an award or event
Can you or your business fund an event such as the Higher Education Awards or Apprenticeship Awards? Or perhaps sponsor an individual award? Your generosity will benefit current learners and in return, you will receive valuable PR for your business amongst the customers of tomorrow.
You may even consider being one of our guest speakers at our prestigious awards evenings.
You can also get in touch through our social channels.

Kiran Kaur Reel studied Level 3 Fashion & Clothing, went on to BCU and now works as a Brand Manager at Selfridges. “Attending the South & City College open day was the main reason I chose them.” Kiran recalled, “The tutors were so helpful. From explaining what buses I needed to catch, to describing how the days would work and which classes I would have.”
Liz Curnew originally studied for a HND in Business and Finance at South & City College Birmingham at the age of 21. Years later she returned to college to do an apprenticeship in Customer Services (PCSO). She is now a Police Community Support Officer with West Midlands Police. “My time at South & City College Birmingham allowed me to reflect on my role and enhance my understanding of customer service and how important this is in all walks of life. The skills that I have learnt are transferable to many workplaces.”
