Aleesha Ali is on her way to university this September to continue into aviation and air transport. Her courses with us included trips to the World Travel Market and the Bear Grylls Adventure. Let’s hear from Aleesha herself about her college journey:
I am Aleesha Ali. I studied a Level 2 Extended Certificate and Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism at South and City College Birmingham, Hall Green campus.
Throughout the course I developed excellent skills, which helped me in producing and conducting more effective research, managing tasks, submitting my assignments on time and more.
Studying Travel and Tourism has enabled me to gain an understanding of the aviation industry, its processes, facilities, and operations as well as the importance of customer service.
Moving from an underdeveloped and underperforming country, Pakistan, to an economically advanced country, the UK, was a life-changing event for me.
Most importantly, experiencing different traditions, cultures and meeting different people from all around the world, has inspired me to pursue a career in this industry and to get a degree that gives me more knowledge and opportunities to explore, experience cultures and meet people from around the globe.
As a part of my course, I have successfully completed a work placement at MacDonald Burlington Hotel’s office and administration department as a receptionist, and in the Food and Beverages department to gain experience in hospitality.
I’m planning to further develop my knowledge in this field by completing an undergraduate degree in air transport or aviation to further enhance my skills in the tourism industry.
I am specifically focusing on aviation and air transport, as it will allow me to progress into job roles with aircraft, airport, and airline companies.
