What a glorious night! The Building the Future Awards were held on the evening of the 17th of November, to celebrate the achievements of young people in construction. These winners and runner-ups will be the cornerstone of Birmingham’s construction industry for years to come, so the city is the real winner!
South & City College Birmingham were a proud co-sponsor of the awards, with our Principal Mike Hopkins attending to make a speech and SCCB apprenticeship staff presenting an award. It was a pleasure to be among such bright young people, fantastic educators and familiar industry faces, with many of our long-term employer collaborators coming to support the event including HS2 and WMCA.
The Building the Future Awards took place in The Holte Suite at Aston Villa FC. The evening ran through 14 award categories covering such qualities as leadership, innovation, sustainability and more.
Big names in Birmingham industry were nominated for employer awards, such as GMI Construction Group, Doocey Group and BAM UK all being nominated for the Employer of the Year. The official Charity Partner of the night was MOBIE, the Ministry of Building Innovation and Education.
And the awards were…
Congratulations to everyone nominated! May the young people keep building on this success so that we have plenty more potential winners in 2024.
