About the course

This two-year, Level 3 fashion course is suitable for school-leavers. Delivered from the Fusion Campus in Digbeth, it will challenge you to develop an experimental & multi-disciplinary portfolio of work supportive of your own future goals and aspirations. The UK fashion industry is a large contributor to the economy, supporting over 800,000 jobs across a range of retail, online, design, and fashion business roles. Given the heightened emphasis on all industries to contribute to the sustainability of the planet, this course places a significant focus on incorporating sustainability. Students will actively engage in conscientious creation, using the increasing use of recycled materials, natural fabrics, and eco-friendly dyeing methods. You will be supported by a team of industry professionals with a great deal of experience in the field of fashion design & textiles.

During the first year of the course, you will explore a range of innovative materials, techniques and processes related to the creative industry of fashion design & textiles. In the second year you will focus on an area within fashion design & textiles and respond to set themes and develop a final major project of work which has the opportunity to be showcased at our end of year fashion show.

What are the entry requirements?

To join this exciting course you will need:
• A portfolio of past or current work you can bring to an interview.
• Commitment and enthusiasm for Fashion Design & Textiles.

Where can I progress next?

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress onto our successful Higher National Diploma in Fashion. You can also progress onto higher education programmes at other institutions within the creative industries, as well as go into employment working as a Fashion or Textiles Designer.

How will you learn?

As well as what you learn in the classroom and studio spaces, you will go on trips to local and regional exhibitions to support the development of your work. You will take part in live competitions and work experiences with local employers to gain experience into how your chosen subject looks in context to the world of work. Practical work will be supported throughout by interesting guest speakers.
