T Levels are new hands-on, technical qualifications equivalent to three A Levels. This two-year qualification is for recent school-leavers who are looking to gain the knowledge and skills to work in the fashion and textile industry. T-Levels offer a mix of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement. This technical course gives the necessary knowledge and skills for a career in the fashion industry, providing a sound base for entry into the workforce or as an apprentice. Also, successful completion of this qualification opens doors for advancing to higher education courses and further training opportunities. Taught from our Fusion campus, the centre offers spacious workrooms, with facilities from industrial sewing machines, embroidery and knitting machines, screen printing equipment, a photoshoot area and computer programmes that are used widely in the creative sector.
You will learn diverse fashion and textile processes, and master creative techniques. You’ll gain knowledge of textiles, fabrics, materials, and design principles and explore the business aspects, including independent work, marketing, and safety practices in line with legislation. Not only will you learn about the industry, you will also be supported in CV writing, employability skills and demonstrating to an employer that you are an applicant with the attributes needed for employment.
5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above to include English, Maths, and a creative subject (preferably Art & Design or Textiles) Applicants will also need to attend an interview to assess suitability for the course
Successful completion of this qualification will lead to employment in the industry of fashion or to further study / higher education. The course ensures you’ll have the skills and knowledge businesses want. Typical job roles with this qualification may include wardrobe assistant, fashion retail, dressmaker, tailor, fashion design assistant or designer.
As well as what you will learn in the classroom, you will undertake an industry placement. You will spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% of your time on a 45-day placement to equip you with the knowledge and skills companies are looking for.
