About the course

This programme is mainly for learners 16-18 or those with an EHCP who have additional needs and who want to progress into the world of employment. 

If you are thinking about going into employment, work placements or volunteering in your local community, this course will support you to develop confidence, build communication skills and give you more independence. 

Volunteering in the Community/Gardening/Animal Care 

Supported Internship

Employment for all (18 to 30 No EHCP required)

You will experience real hands on work opportunities with support from staff within your chosen pathway.   

You will explore subjects that will help you become more independent and boost your chances of getting a job. You will be encouraged to apply for volunteer roles or jobs, write a CV and a covering letter. You will learn how to get ready for interviews and understand how to dress and behave at work. 

The course also includes Functional Skills in Maths and English.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be working at or towards Entry 3 functional skills in maths and English. 

If you are applying for the Supported Internship, you will need to be aged 16 – 24 with an ECHP. 

If you are applying for Employment for All you will be a young adult with additional learning needs. 

You will be able to volunteer or get a placement in the community, you will receive support to do this but you need to be able to travel independently.  

Full time course over 3 days, at college and on placement. 

Where can I progress next?

Once completed you could progress to having a job, volunteering more in the community, apply for an apprenticeship or further training to move to the next role in your career. 

How will you learn?

Your timetable will consist of a mixture of time in college, volunteering or placements.  You will be expected to take part in various activities and complete portfolio work in your chosen subject. 

You may have the opportunity to work with a Job Coach, who will support you to find the right voluntary placement, this will include help with updating your CV, applying for positions and help with travel.  

Your personal tutor will encourage you to build on your own skills and confidence during weekly tutorials, goal setting and regular reviews.
