About the course

Are you a recent school leaver wanting a career in computer hardware, software, networking and cyber security? Networking and cybersecurity are fast growing sectors in the world of IT. This course is for you if you want a career or an apprenticeship in the IT and telecoms sectors to learn, practise and develop skills for a variety of employment roles such as: cyber security technician, network manager, first and second line support technicians and infrastructure technicians.

You'll study customer support, installation and configuration of networked devices and operating systems, testing, maintenance, and monitoring of networked equipment, and the design and planning of building network infrastructure. Additionally, you'll cover the installation, configuration, and testing of network operating systems servers and clients.

What are the entry requirements?

You need four GCSEs at Grade 3 or above (preferably including English and maths), or a Level 2 in an IT related qualification and above all, an interest in this specific area relating to technical skills and professional competence. All offers will be subject to a successful interview.

Where can I progress next?

Successful completion of the course can see you progress to an apprenticeship or a higher level of study. This qualification can lead you into various IT roles such as business support services technician, first and second-line support technician, help desk technician, and IT support technician.
