As part of the course you will develop a music product of your choice, either a performance (musician/vocalist) or a sound recording (music technologist). It is suitable if you are interested in the performance aspect of music or the more technical and production element. You will gain the specialist knowledge and understanding of creating and developing music of your choice. You will learn about working in the music industry, giving you a broad knowledge of the employment opportunities, and the types of jobs there are. You will also gain an understanding of your professional development within the industry, whether you are interested in a career as a studio engineer or a musician or composer, you will find out what the music industry has to offer you and how you can get there. Taught by tutors who are passionate about music and are working in the industry themselves, you will get first hand advice and information about working in the industry. We have visits from industry experts and artists. We have an impressive 350 seat auditorium that is used for performances and visiting artists. You will be assessed throughout the course by assignments and coursework.

You will need four GCSEs grade 3 or above or a Level 1 equivalent qualification.
After completing the course successfully, you could progress onto a Level 3 Music course either specialising in performance or technology. You may also be able to pursue a variety of career opportunities such as becoming a professional musician/performer, sound engineer or producer.
