The course is assessed via a combination of coursework and controlled exams and is designed for students with experience in the Health and Care sector who do not have a sufficient level 3 qualification to allow them to progress to university. You will need 60 credits in order to pass the course. This is made up of: Biology: 18 credits Health Studies: 15 credits Sociology: 6 credits Psychology: 6 credits Skills for Learning: 15 credits You are advised to contact universities prior to applying, to check that you will be considered for your chosen degree on completion of the course and some universities require specific unit combinations. Most universities require evidence of 'recent study' which means you should be planning to go to university within the next year or two. You will attend weekly tutorials which are designed to assist with study skills, confidence building and applying for university.

• Biology
• Skills for learning
To be enrolled onto this course, you should have been out of education with a clear idea of the course you wish to study at university. You are required to have GCSE grade C or above in maths and English/English language. Selection is on the basis of an interview and completion of an initial assessment. You should have substantial work experience in an area related to your chosen career. On successful completion of this programme, you can progress onto university. For most universities you will be required to have GCSE English and maths as well as the Access to HE Diploma. It is your responsibility to check the entry requirements for individual universities. This course is particularly suitable for degrees including: nursing and other health professions, midwifery, social work, psychology and sociology. This course is also suitable if you wish to progress to HNC/HNDs or Foundation degrees in health or social science related areas.
