Access to Higher Education Diploma (Engineering)
Access to HE Diplomas are a one-year, Level 3 programme of study. They are designed to prepare students who already have industry experience for study at university. They are aimed at people who would like to study at degree level, but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as A Levels. Many Access students go on to succeed at university and beyond, with a large number of students pursuing new careers in a variety of subjects.
You will study the following modules:
• Skills for learning
• Electrical engineering
• Mechanical engineering
• Advance engineering mathematics
Help with study skills, computing and maths will be available and you will have weekly tutorials with your personal tutor.
You will need Grade 4/C or above in both maths and English/English language. Selection is on the basis of an interview and completing an initial assessment. If you would like help with your numeracy and language skills before starting the Access to HE Diploma, please enquire about our Pre-Access courses which are designed to prepare people for Level 3 study.
On successful completion of this programme, you will be able to apply to universities offering diplomas and degree courses in engineering and related degree courses including:

•Telecommunications, aeronautical and marine engineering
•Mechanical, civil, chemical and environmental engineering
