Access to Higher Education Diploma (Education)
Overview
This QAA (Quality Assurance Agency) approved programme is for people who wish to take teaching/education related courses at university, but do not have the required entry qualifications. It has been designed for students who have been away from studying for some time.

Course description
Access to HE Diplomas are designed as an alternative to A Levels and are a one year, Level 3 programme of study designed to prepare students for study at university. They are aimed at people who would like to study at degree level, but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as A Levels.
Many Access to HE students go on to succeed at university and beyond, with a large number of students pursuing new careers in a variety of subjects. At the end of the course, you can progress to university to study a range of teaching or related degrees, including History and English.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
What areas will I study?
You will normally study the following modules:
- Skills for learning
- Education studies
- Education theory
- Historical studies
- Literature and language
Help with study skills, and returning to learning will be available and you will have weekly tutorials with your personal tutor.
