This QAA approved programme is for people who wish to take health related courses at university, but do not have the required entry qualifications. It has been designed for students who have been away from studying for some time.
Access courses are designed as an alternative to A levels. At the end of the course students go on to university to study a range of health related degrees or diplomas, such as Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy etc.
All students on the Access to Health Studies course will take the following modules:
Biology Skills for Learning Sociology Psychology
Help with study skills, computing and maths will be available and all students have weekly tutorials with their personal tutor.
Students who successfully complete this programme will be able to apply to universities offering diplomas and degree courses in Health Studies, or more specific areas such as Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
Applicants are required to have C or above in both maths and English/English Language. Selection is on the basis of an interview and completing an initial assessment.
