Summary

Business BTEC Level 3 Certificate and Subsidiary Diploma are designed specifically for those wanting to study Business or seeking to develop those skills in marketing and organisation. It will allow you to progress to a Degree course in this field or seek employment as a Trainee Professional.

Description

The course will be focused on developing your knowledge of the business world, while developing a host of transferable skills and some students in the past have moved into broader areas such as Teacher Training, IT and Retail but most do continue into Business or part of the wider Social Sciences pathway.

You will be assessed throughout the course via, essays, presentations, reports and independent research. You will have one exam in year one and one exam in year two. To progress to year two, you must achieve Merits/Distinctions in year one.

All students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours work experience in both year one and year two. This will help develop the personal qualities and skills required by universities and employers.

Key Areas

The course is divided into 2 years of study. Year 1: The Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, Business Communication.

Year 2: Recruitment and Selection in Business, Development Planning for a Career in Business, Managing a Business Event, Developing Teams in Business.

What Next

Degree in Business, Human Relations and/or Marketing. Employment in a business profession, HND in Business or Marketing or a higher level apprenticeship. It should be noted that many selective universities accept BTEC vocational qualifications alongside an A-level programme of study, however, it would be expected that these are at a Distinction or Distinction* grade.
