Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
This qualification covers a range of key subject areas that provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to care for and educate children aged between 0 and 5 years with knowledge up to 7 years of age.
This qualification is only available to 16-18 year olds and learners 24+ due to government funding rules. If you are aged between 19-23 and wish to study childcare, the Technical Certificate for Healthcare, Care and Childcare is funded for you.
This qualification has been designed to support you to progress onto Level 3 qualifications across a number of sectors including early years educator, supporting teaching and learning, and children and young people. You will also be required to successfully apply theory into practice throughout the year in both an early years and childcare setting.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
What areas will I study?
You will cover a range of key concepts including child development, inclusive practice, legislation and policy, safeguarding, planning activities and play.
You will also undergo a placement in an early years and primary setting where you will have to demonstrate your skills as an early years practitioner.
