Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (2 year)
You don't need any previous experience to study this qualification.
This Level 2 qualification will provide you with the opportunity to gain the OFSTED recognised qualification that you will need work at Level 2 with children up to the age of 5 years old. You will also be gaining important work experience on placement and also developing your maths and English skills.
You will be taught by tutors who have occupational experience of the Early Years sector at campuses that have good transport links.
To achieve this qualification you will complete a range of assessements set by CACHE (the awarding organisation) and internally assessed. These may include written assignments, projects, child observations and direct observation by an assessor while you are at your placement.
You will also study both maths and English GCSE if you have not yet achieved a minimum Grade 4 in these subjects.. These are both essential skills for an Early Years practitioner as you will supporting children's literacy and numeracy and may be responsible for completing accurate records on such things as a child's development, accident reports and payments.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.

You will gain experience in a work placement with an Early Years provider for which you will need to complete a DBS application. A Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) is the term used for the analysis and record of a person's past, looking specifically at any convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings they may have received.
