Our unique Level 2 Two-Year Mechanical Engineering programme is designed to support you in achieving a Level 2 qualification in Engineering by embedding a Skills Development and Employability programme into your Engineering course. From day 1 we'll begin preparing you, not just with the technical knowledge required by the industry, but also with the additional skills employers expect from their employees.
The Level 2 Two-Year Mechanical Engineering programme provides you with a broad engineering education that covers a wide range of Mechanical Engineering subjects.
You will experience an interactive way of learning. Practical and experimental classes offer you hands-on experience to complement your course's more theoretical modules, while innovative design-build-test projects replace the more traditional lesson and workshop sessions.
What areas will I study?
You will study a range of engineering topics including:
- Working in engineering
- Use of hand tools
- Basic maths and science in engineering
- Turning and milling
The Skills Development and Employability programme will develop your organisational skills, time-management and team-working skills in addition to the many more skills employers seek in the engineering sector.
What are the entry requirements?
Whilst there are no formal entry criteria, engineering is a technical subject with both theory and practical elements to the courses we offer. Therefore some working knowledge of basic maths is desired and a general interest in the engineering and manufacturing is highly desired. You will be required to attend and work towards English and/or maths grade 4 as part of your study programme.
All students will also be required to attend and satisfactorily complete a formal induction period.
Where can I progress to next?
Students who complete this course can progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, onto an apprenticeship or into direct employment.
