Fashion and Textiles
This one year course will introduce you to the world of fashion and design and give you a practical introduction to the skills and techniques needed in order to be able to make your own garments.
You will learn about the fashion industry including exploring and researching your design ideas. By the end of the year you will have a portfolio of designs and will have created your own garment.
‘…Students in creative arts…benefit strongly from the expertise of their teachers…produce good standards of work….’ Ofsted, 2018
You will be based in our new, airy and creative fashion hub at the Fusion Campus which is ideally located only a few minutes walk from Selfridges, the Bullring and the famous Birmingham Rag Markets.
You will learn from tutors who have worked in the fashion and textiles industry and they will help you develop a real understanding of professional working practices within the fashion industry. As part of the course, fashion students get involved in many fashion shows and events both within the college and throughout the city.
You will be able to have your garments walked down the catwalk at our sell-out end of year fashion show. You will be assessed throughout the course by assignments and coursework. There are no exams in this course.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
