Gaining a recognised qualification in English is a requirement for many jobs. This is a course for those who are English speakers but would like to improve elements of their English such as reading or writing. You will improve your basic skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening and work towards a Functional Skills qualification.

Course description

You will focus on the core English skills needed to help you to progress towards a qualification at an appropriate level for you. We offer Functional Skills qualifications, where appropriate, at level E3 and Level 1.

If you are not able to attend a course at the college, or you want to study independently to improve your maths or English alongside your college course, you can study FREE with the Open University (OU) and gain an OU Statement of Participation. Bring your Statement along to college if you then want to complete a qualification in Functional Skills.
