Our Supported Internships are designed for students aged 16-18 with a SEN plan or for those with an EHCP, up to age 24.
Supported Internships are for students who want to have a work placement to help them to move into employment.
Students on a Supported Internship will complete an employability induction at college and then a block work experience placement of approximately 6 months. During this time students will be supported in their placement by a Work Coach from the college who will mentor and support them when required.
Students will be required to meet the requirements of the employer and this may include working through holidays and unsocial hours. The college will endeavour to find placements to suit the interests and needs of each individual student.
Students will continue to attend college one day each week to continue to improve their English and maths skills. On work placement days, students are expected to attend work at the times required by the employer.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to be delivered online as much as possible.
