This course is for students who are preparing for adulthood and who have an interest in gardening. You will spend part of your course working in Kings Heath park, with a specialist tutor and the park rangers. You will gain practical skills in the workshop to develop and improve your confidence and experience in gardening. The course will help you decide if this is the right pathway for you.

Our friendly and specialist staff will offer the extra encouragement that you may need as you start the next stage of your learning. You will be fully supervised during your time at the park.

Course description

You will study for a Certificate in Using Employability Skills, as well as maths and English to build the confidence you need for improving your independence on the next step of your career pathway.

You can take part in local trips and visits to gardening centres and historical gardens, along with other enrichment activities within the college to build your confidence and develop your social skills.

Part of your programme will focus on your health and wellbeing to support your physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
