Health and Social Care (2 year) Extended Diploma
This two-year Level 2 qualification will give you an introduction to the health and social care sectors. Over the two years, you will develop your knowledge of the sector, undertake a work placement in a relevant health and social care setting and take your maths and English GCSEs.
As of 11th November all adults aged 18 or over employed or volunteering must have received both doses of a MHRA approved COVID-19 vaccine before they are able to enter any CQC regulated care or nursing home. Therefore, if you are 18 or over (or will turn 18 during your course) you must have already received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or, be willing to receive both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine following enrolment or, provide medical evidence as to why you are unable to receive a vaccine.
In the first year you will complete a Level 1 qualification in health and social care to provide you with the foundation knowledge needed to begin your Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care in the second year.
The knowledge and skills gained will ensure that you are able to operate in a healthcare or care setting. You will cover communication skills, safe working and safeguarding skills as well as working skills specific to the sector. You will also have to complete work experience in a relevant setting, providing you with the opportunity to put theory into practice and develop your practical skills.
