Professional Food and Beverage Service Diploma
On our Level 2 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service, you will cover the skills and modern techniques required to work at a high level in the service side of hospitality. The course will provide you with the opportunity to learn essential skills in serving food and beverages, product knowledge and customer service. You will also experience a diverse food and drink culture. This will enable you to work in many different settings across the industry and throughout the world.
You will have opportunity to complete work experience in our professional catering outlets; our dedicated Street take-away and Karibunis, our fine dining restaurant. The restaurant opens every Thursday evening, with themed evenings as well as Michelin rated service. You must wear a restaurant uniform and all information will be given to you at an interview.
In addition you will also learn the skills to become a talented Barista which is becoming one of the new highly skilled professions in the industry and on the high street. Another part of the job which is becoming more and more expected in the industry is mixologist; you will learn to create and mix cocktails in order for you to have a wider set of employability skills.
A mandatory part of the course is work experience and employer engagement so you will have the advantage of being able to gain practical experience during the course. If you do not have a part time job you will be expected to complete this mandatory element during the academic year.
You will also have the opportunity to enter competitions and at South and City College, we have had great successes. For example, in the previous academic year, one of our students won the best overall front of house award.
