Summary

This course will equip you with the skills, discipline and knowledge needed for a career in the public services. You will learn about leadership and teamwork and being prepared. You will be involved in land and water-based outdoor pursuits and physical activities, learn to read maps, navigate and take part in a number of residential stays, camping trips and activity trips.

Description

You will learn by completing a variety of written assignments, oral presentations, problem solving exercises and demonstrations of competence. Projects and assignments are based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands; which gives a comprehensive insight into a career in the public services and prepares you both physically and mentally for this industry. You will gain an understanding of how public services are affected by Government policies. Visits from emergency services give an insight into the sector and help you explore career opportunities. You will have the opportunities to gain separate qualifications in English and maths during this course.

What Next

Following the course you may wish to pursue a career in the Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Police, Prison Service, Security Industry and Emergency Services such as Fire Service or Ambulance Crew. Completing this course will provide you with enough UCAS points to progress to higher education.

Entry Criteria

You will need four GCSEs grade A-C including English and maths, or a qualification in Public Services Level 2 and English and maths at level 1.

You will also be required to have an interview.
