Genie-us Performance of Aladdin Enthrals Hall Green Campus
Cast of Aladdin and the Lamp

Supported Learning students from our Hall Green campus showcased their talents with yet another mesmerising pantomime on December 18th in the main hall. This year’s spectacular production was none other than the timeless classic, Aladdin, drawing a full house captivated by its magic.

This year, Supported Learning tutor Tony Stephens asked Nathalie Luckett’s Entry 3 Multiskills students to help run the event as part of their employability skills, to assist with activities that are required to put on a panto. These included front-of-house, hospitality and catering, marketing, stage design, and fundraising.

A charitable spirit flourished with a raffle and cake sale, raising funds for Birmingham Hospice. The hospice provides critical care to individuals grappling with diverse complex conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, kidney failure, and cancer.

Reflecting on the experience, Nathalie Luckett, Multiskills lecturer, said, “The students have grasped this project and really benefited from this approach to learning. It has given them real-world experience and shown them various aspects of work around this area and sector.”

The students themselves echoed this sentiment, with comments such as, “I have enjoyed communicating with various people”, “I have learnt how to send attachments with emails and how to organise and write communications”

The performance not only entertained but also served as an example of how experiential learning provides invaluable skills.
