The New Year is here. Can you believe it? We hope that you have had a wonderful break and feel refreshed and ready to go for a new term.
January is often a busy time. It can be difficult to get back into routines after lots of rest and festivities. You might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious about the sudden switch back to normality, but don’t worry, we have come up with some ideas for how to combat those post-holiday blues and get your brain back into college mode.
First things first, it’s important to make a plan of action for the day or week. Write down what you’d like to get done and set time frames for each action.
Make sure that your plan of action is achievable in the time – give yourself some room for flexibility and don’t set yourself up for failure.
This may sound simple, but it can be easy to let time slip away. Tell yourself the time that you’d like to be in bed, and set a limit on that late night phone scrolling!
This is really important. Your college experience won’t last forever, so it’s a good idea to take advantage of what’s on offer now. You might want to set aside some time to study in the campus library, write your assignments on a college computer, fuel your brain with our free breakfasts or energise your body at one of our free onsite gyms.
Remember that you’re not superhuman – sometimes plans change, tasks take longer than expected and life happens. Focus on the small wins and keep going.
We want you to have a fantastic 2024 at South and City College Birmingham so follow these steps, set a strong routine now and watch those good habits fall into place.
Let’s start 2024 off with a bang.
