HND alumni student Darren Scott has recently won the Midland Fashion Awards ‘Emerging Designer Award’ with his company My Real Cover. The brand specialises in bespoke jackets as well as apparel such as hats and t-shirts.
As announced on the Fashion Capital Newsletter, CEO Jenny Holloway said: “I genuinely can’t wait to mentor Midlands Fashion Awards Emerging Designer of the Year 2018 MYREALCOVER – founder Darren Scott. I am originally from Wall Heath in the West Midlands and I am a Black Country gal at heart. So impressed to see the high standard of designers on show at this year’s event.”
Since completing his HND at the college in 2014, Darren went on to complete his BA (Hons) at De Montfort University, where he also had the opportunity to show his collection ‘Roy Scott’ at Graduate Fashion Week.
Darren has seen a lot of success this year with artists such as 50 cent wearing one of his t-shirt designs at his show in September.
HND Fashion Course Director Jessica Lench says “We are extremely proud of Darren and all of his recent achievements, he was a dedicated learner who had this vision when he started his HND. Darren and his company are currently working with and mentoring our current HND students on a live brief where the learners are creating one of his Autumn/Winter 2018 designs in a production run to industry standard, this is giving the learners a sense of their future careers and what they could do if they work in the fashion industry. We can’t wait to see what he does next!”
