During Equality Week, Hair and Beauty, Barbering and Makeup students created a trade event to showcase the different industries within their vocational trades.
Hair and Makeup Project – Bridal Bar
Students studying Hair and Makeup were given a project to promote designer wedding dresses for a photoshoot. Jane Eley from the Bridal Bar has a designer wedding boutique in Dorridge, Solihull and wants to promote her dresses to real women with real figures. Jane has allowed the students to use her designer dresses as part of the project. The college would like to thank her for this opportunity. Jane has also asked the college to host a bridal show next year. Watch this space.
Dermalogica, a high street brand, came in to give our learners a training day on their product range. The trainer, Sam Lock, was very pleased with the high standards of professional behaviours our learners demonstrated, especially early in their studies.
Employability Support – Nafisa Safdar
Nafisa from Umberto Gianni Salon, kindly came into college to support learners at all levels, not only to reiterate the high standards expected in top salons, but also to help inspire our students who are new to the industry. Nafisa set the Level 1 learners an induction project to create a look using their natural skills.
She said “I am very impressed, not only with the initial standards I have observed, but also with the politeness of the students towards each other. These skills are what salons are looking for”. She supported the teaching team to instil high standards of cleanliness in the salon and the expectation of personal presentation in the salon. Thank you Nafisa for your time.
Milkshake and Reuzel
Darren Boon from Boon Bar Hair Suppliers visited our Bournville Campus as the direct supplier of Milkshake and Reuzel barbering products.
He gave a talk to our Hair and Barbering learners, on the benefits of the products and gave them some samples to try on their clients.
Specialist Hair and Media Makeup
Hair and Media Makeup students have again excelled themselves. The project brief was to create concepts for a small scale theatre production.
