Adrienna Connor now 30 and originally from Hall Green, started her beauty therapy career by studying at South & City College, Hall Green campus. She now works as a beauty therapist at Urban Serenity, a professional salon situated at Bournville College in Longbridge, Birmingham.

Before studying Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy and Level 2 Nail Technician, she worked as an immigration officer; however she wanted to get into a career that had a natural flair.

“I wanted a career that I was passionate about.” Adrienna said, “Allows for freedom of expression.

“I enjoyed being at college. They provided all the necessary products and facilities for you to have a hands-on approach to learn all the different treatments. You get to work with real clients too.”

Urban Serenity, together with its sister hair salon Urban Elegance, was relaunched last year by regular customer and TV news presenter, Joanne Malin. The launch was to celebrate partnerships with suppliers of premium hair and beauty products and the investment in three high-end ELEMIS BIOTEC facial treatment machines. The machines, normally only seen in prestigious spas, deliver new highly-effective, super-charged facial treatments, enhancing the skin's ability to repair, renew and re-tone.

Level 3 beauty students will benefit from seeing these machines in action, as the college is the only one within the region to have them. As part of the relationship with ELEMIS, two high-performing Level 3 beauty students each term will be rewarded with a five-day BIOTEC training session, which will significantly enhance their CV and future employability prospects.
