BMA Awards 500x400

In May, South & City College Music department took home a Birmingham Music Award (BMA) for Best Education Provider. As the only state educator nominated, this is an incredible achievement for the Music team and the college.

Birmingham has a rich musical heritage and the BMAs recognise the achievements of musicians and industry professionals in the Midlands. It is a brilliant way to put Birmingham on the map as a city for emerging artists. Held at The Mill Digbeth, a new and popular live music venue, contributors to the music industry, from educational establishments to producers, DJs and many more, were in attendance.

Technical Manager and Music Lecturer, Nik Wells, collected the award on behalf of the college as he was personally nominated for the Best Tutor/Mentor award. Having been in the Creative Arts sector for over 35 years, Nik offers invaluable knowledge and practical skills to our students.

Nik said “We continue to provide our students with an excellent educational experience, which has now been recognised through winning this fantastic award.”

Our award for Best Education Provider is a major achievement for the Music department and the college itself, it will be proudly celebrated. Congratulations to the Music department for their continued hard work in successfully preparing students for a future in the music industry.
