18 year old Heaven Byrn, from Redditch has just completed her Art and Design Diploma Level 1 at Bournville College and has already enrolled to progress to the Level 2 course.

Heaven’s interest in art started when she was 12. Struggling with anxiety, she started drawing as a way of taking her mind off things. From drawing, she quickly moved on to using free online software to create digital art.

Longbridge station is only 15 minutes away from Redditch by train, so when Heaven heard that Bournville College was a good college and had a good reputation for art, it was an easy decision for her to enrol.

The 2018 Ofsted report agrees, saying “…Students in creative arts...benefit strongly from the expertise of their teachers...produce good standards of work….”

Talking about her experiences of the past year Heaven said “The teachers have been really good at inspiring my art ability and the staff here are very nice, helpful, supportive and friendly. I’ve also made a lot of friends, which I have struggled to do in the past, so I’m really happy at college.”

After completing the Level 2 course, Heaven’s ambition is to go on to learn animation and create cartoon stories.
