SBS Carpentry
SBS Carpentry is a long established carpentry and joinery contractor which started trading from the Birmingham region and now covers sites across the UK. SBS Carpentry was formed in 2001 and since then have been building a well-earned reputation for reliability and quality.

The firm’s relationship with South & City College started 15 years ago when they took on Lee Brown as an apprentice. Lee, now 31, is still enjoying a fruitful career with SBS. Over 90% of the 20+ apprentices taken on, are still with the company.

Lee said of apprenticeships, “I believe I made the right choice as it gave me a trade that gives me and now my new family a very good standard of living.”

Tracy Kerr, Business Consultant for South and City College said, “The college is very proud to be working in partnership with SBS Carpentry, a long-established Birmingham business, in supporting them in bringing new apprentices into the business each year. SBS Carpentry have offered many young people work experience and apprenticeship opportunities and are one of the College's biggest advocates of apprenticeships. We hope our relationship with SBS continues as more young people will be offered opportunities in an industry that is facing severe skills shortages."

Managing Director of SBS, Warren Smith commented, “Tracy and all the team at the college have a passion in helping young people progress in their journey, something we are glad to share. The apprenticeship program has become an integral part of our business and we have come to share the passion of the college. With it being Apprenticeship Week, I would urge businesses locally and nationally to support the program.”
