South & City College Birmingham Students get a Virtual Visit from US Politicians

In an event organised by The Politics Project, #DigitalDialogueUSA, four schools and colleges attended a virtual session where students could ask questions of two former US politicians: Democrat Larry LaRocco – who served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Idaho, and Republican Tim Hutchinson, former US senator for Arkansas.

Each school or college got to ask three questions and both politicians remarked on how well researched all of the questions were.

South & City College Birmingham student Sam said of the event, “It gave us insight into the functions of US politics – Larry and Tim were very engaging and informative.”

The Politics Project is a national programme aiming to transform the ways young people and politicians interact, giving students a chance to engage with politicians.

This is one of a series of virtual events that A Level Politics students have enjoyed. Past guests have included Lord Aberdare and Northfield MP Gary Sambrook.
