Omer Simjee I am one of the Midlands’ leading employment and immigration lawyers. I have 20 years’ experience working as a solicitor for major law firms, acting for businesses. My previous roles have been Head of Employment and Immigration, Birmingham, Managing Partner, Magma Legal, Partner, Employment and National Head of Immigration, Irwin Mitchell LLP, Associate, Employment and Immigration, Pinsent Masons LLP, Solicitor, Employment, Needham & James (now Shakespeare Martineau). In my current role as a Partner, I am responsible for compliance, business strategy, financial control and risk management in relation to my team. For my clients, I deal with day-to-day HR queries and Employment Tribunal claims, but my strength lies in advising corporates on HR strategy. I supported Irwin Mitchell grow its ‘Further Education’ team, which led to me partnering with the Association of Colleges to speak at their national HR conferences. I have legal experience in Business reorganisations, redundancies and acquisitions (TUPE), Senior-level exits, unfair dismissals and settlement agreements, Equality Act issues: discrimination and equal treatment I have also undertaken a number of voluntary roles, including: Trustee of SOLO Life Opportunities (Solihull based charity supporting children with learning disabilities), Vice President of the Asian Business Chambers of Commerce, Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Brexit Committee, Trustee for Yew Tree School, Aston.
