South & City College Birmingham proudly hosted the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. The event was ‘NFDC Talks: Intelligent Demolition Planning’, in partnership with The Health & Safety Executive and Institute of Demolition Engineers.
Reps from 40 Birmingham companies came to our Bournville campus to learn about raising the standards of the demolition industry, ensuring safety, and more. It was held in our prestigious Karibunis restaurant with refreshments available.
A welcome was given by John Lynch, President of the NFDC, with an opening from South & City College Birmingham’s Director of Marketing Russell Williams, greeting our guests on behalf of Principal Mike Hopkins. Talks came from industry-leading guest speakers:
- John Woodward (Consultant at C&D Demolition Consultants)
- Jan Andresen (HM Principal Specialist Inspector – Construction Health & Safety Executive)
- Duncan Rudall (CEO of NFDC and NDTG)
- Vernon Watson (President of IDE)
This is one of many ways our college supports local industry and Birmingham businesses, from hosting Construction Cares with GMI for care leavers, to our Bordesley Green community collaborations, to our Birmingham Children’s Hospital Fashion Show.
