Curriculum planning and subject expertise
Mapping logically sequenced, challenging and knowledge-rich lessons, led by a subject expert.
Classroom culture
Creating a safe, inclusive and collaborative learning environment, which nurtures positive student behaviours and attitudes and which uses teaching assistants effectively (where appropriate).
Clear explanation and practice
Conveying up to date information clearly using models, examples and scaffolds. Giving learners opportunities to practice and develop new skills.
Checking understanding and feedback
Assessing whether learning has taken place, asking questions and correcting misconceptions. Offering feedback that moves students forward.
Consolidation and employability skills
Ensuring learners embed concepts into their long-term memory while also linking learning to employability skills.
