About the course

Whether you are an adult or recent school leaver this one year Level 2 course this course is ideal if you wish to develop the skills to work in the digital industry. It gives learners the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the digital technology and creative industries.

You will study a range of information and creative technology (ICT) applications including website design and development, the Internet of Things (IOT), software development and the hardware and network technology systems that support them. You'll learn how to design and create databases, edit computer-generated images and develop other assets.

What are the entry requirements?

Students will be considered depending upon experience, qualifications and an interview. You will need 4 GCSE's at Grade 3 or above including English and Maths or Functional Skills equivalent in English and Maths or a full Level 1 diploma in a related subject. You will also need a desire and passion to learn, work hard and have a genuine interest in progressing onto a career in Digital and computing which will be demonstrated at interview.

Where can I progress next?

Successful completion of the course will allow you to move on to a Level 3 qualification to increase your employment choices, or consider entry-level employment in areas involving the use of IT.



Is this course free?

At South & City College Birmingham, we offer a wide range of courses for most age groups.

School Leavers: For learners who are between the ages of 16 to 18, studies will be free.

Adults: For learners who are aged 19 or over, the cost of study will depend on the course or programme that you choose. Some courses may even be free*. If the course is not free, students aged 19 at the start of their programme who wish to study need to either pay their course fees, or take out an Advanced Learning Loan.

*Eligibility criteria applies. There may be an exception for students aged 19 or over that are taking their first full Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A Levels and Access to HE Diplomas), who could be supported by the Learner Support Fund, or free adult course funded by the WMCA.
