Elex Day shows connection is power for Electrical employers and students

‘We’ve got some special guests coming in, some innovation products that have never been put on the market yet, all the students are milling around with the employers and industry contacts here today, they are learning some new tools. There’s some timed challenges and some nice donations today as well. Hopefully it’s a fun day!”

Richard Fort, Deputy Head of School Electrical

Keeping up with current events? If so, you will have seen our exciting Elex Day at our Longbridge campus – an electrical event bringing together industry experts, the latest tech, influencers and keen students into one electrical-focused circuit.

There were industry talks, classroom training with new tech, apprenticeship advice, free giveaways, and even some close competitions to win electrical prizes! Guest speakers included R Davis Electrical, Ben Poulter, Chris Sparky and Steve Palmer, industry experts with thousands of followers across TikTok and Facebook.

Elex Day was sponsored by RPF Electrical Services Ltd. Just some of the attending manufacturers and contractors included Super Rod, Klein Tools, Marshall Tufflex, Rointe, AICO, Denmans Wholesaler, Wago, Designa, FuseBox, Scolmore, Megger, SolaX Power, HiSpec Fire + CO Detection, Yesss Wholesaler, Luxna Lighting, Unitrunk and many more. FIX Radio recorded a podcast while at their stand.

Well done to all involved! This was an amazing opportunity for our electrical students to learn the latest high-end industry knowledge, and to spark connections that could shape their careers forever.

Events like these are a titanic effort, but everyone went away happy, thanks to the opportunities and networking it brought together. Vanessa Molloy, Brand manager of Super Rod Ltd, said afterwards:

“I wanted to take a moment to congratulate you and the team at South & City College Birmingham for pulling off an incredibly successful event yesterday. Bringing together manufacturers, wholesalers, contractors, and apprentices under one roof was a remarkable achievement, and I must say, it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it.

“The enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by the students were truly inspiring, and it was evident that they were eager to learn and explore new possibilities in their field. A big thank you for your hospitality and enthusiasm throughout the event. Your dedication to providing enriching experiences for your students is truly commendable, and I have no doubt that they are incredibly fortunate to have you as part of their learning experience.”
