Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Science) Social Work Pathway
This QAA approved programme is for people who wish to take social work related courses at university, but do not have the required entry qualifications. It has been designed for students who have been away from studying for some time.
‘Courses, such as the Access to higher education programme, have been developed to match local healthcare sector needs.’ Ofsted, 2018
Access courses are a one year, Level 3 programme of study and are designed to prepare adult (19+) students for study at university. They are aimed at people who would like to study at degree level, but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as A Levels. Many Access students go on to succeed at university and beyond, with a large number of students pursuing new careers in a variety of subjects.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
What areas will I study?
All students on the Access to Social Work course will take the following modules:
- Skills for Learning
- Social Policy
Help with study skills, computing and maths will be available and all students have weekly tutorials with their personal tutor.
