Preparing to Volunteer
This is a course to help you prepare for adulthood and develop your work and employability skills so that you are ready to move towards working as a volunteer or in supported employment.
You will work on individual goals which could include work skills, communication skills (speaking/signing, listening, reading and writing), independence and confidence as well as practical skills such as handling money, using public transport, along with specific practical skills for your chosen area of study. If appropriate, you may do some work experience.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.

Where and when? Hall Green campus and Handsworth campus 2.5 days each week 12.5 hours
What else will I do? Local trips and visits, and enrichment activities For students under 19, 1/2 day study programme
What level is the course? Entry level 2 and 3
What support is available? Regular tutorial with personal tutor Specific sessions to improve your basic skills
