Ready Steady Cook
This course is for students who are interested in cooking, baking and developing independent living skills. Students will spend part of the course working in a kitchen environment and cooking each week.
Students will gain practical skills in the kitchen to develop, improve confidence and experience in cooking and baking.
Our friendly, specialist staff will offer the extra encouragement that may be needed as students start the next stage of learning. Students will be fully supervised during their time in the kitchen.
Students will study a Certificate in Using Employability Skills, as well as maths and English to build the skills needed for improving independence on the next step in their career pathway.
Students can also take part in visiting restaurants to experience different types of food, local trips and visits, along with other enrichment activities within the College to build confidence and develop social skills.
Students will have the opportunity to take part in a baking competition. As part of the programme they will also focus on health and wellbeing and how this can support physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing, whilst cooking and eating.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with health and safety of our students as a priority, we have redesigned this course to include a mixture of classroom-based and online learning.
