Supported Internship Programme
Overview
This is a programme for students who want to progress into employment. The programme will help you gain work skills and decide on your career pathway through an extended work placement.
Course description
This course is for students who have an EHCP, are working at Level 1 or above and want to progress into employment. It will help you explore opportunities to get into work through an extended work placement. A work coach will support you to find a suitable placement in your chosen area.
You will be on placement for 4 days a week and spend 1 day a week in college, improving your maths and English. You will be allocated a personal tutor who will support you throughout your course and will meet with you once a week to ensure you are making progress and feel supported.
A work coach will help you to find your placement and will visit you in the work place. The college will also support you to apply for Access to Work payments if appropriate to helping you find sustainable employment.
