The Level 3 Visual Communication in Media Extended Diploma is a fun but challenging course, designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current and future employment in the media industries or for progression into higher education.
This course is perfect for anyone who would like to work in digital media. It will give you a broad understanding of the practical aspects of media production and visual communication and help you to develop a broad range of skills. You will be able to explore digital visual communication through practical projects and aspects of photography.
This is a highly practical, creative and advanced course. It is aimed at developing skills in media production and industrial practices for creative individuals with an interest in the media, who enjoy the idea of making their own products, whether this be a film, music video or news story.
You will learn camera operation, digital video editing, photography, page layout and design, audio production and presentation techniques. You will get experience of using a radio station, as well as other exciting digital software such as a green screen. As well as gaining an insight into the various employment opportunities in the media sector and developing the fundamental skills underlying all media production, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the particular areas that you are most interested in, for example production management.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, one of which must be English language and a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Merit or Distinction) together with a Level 4 in English language.
All applicants must have a suitable, positive references.
Where can I progress to next?
This course could give you the confidence to directly seek employment in the media or other creative industries. You may also wish to continue onto higher education in media or another subject or go onto study a Higher Apprenticeship.
