This course is designed for students looking for progression onto higher education courses or a successful career in event production and mangement. Developing practical event production and management skills are key to this course. Live sound, lighting, recording, event management and career development modules will develop technological, personal and academic skills.
The course is very practical and you will have the opportunity to develop your event production techniques through practical sessions taught in our £2 million venue 'The Crossing' www.thecrossingdigbeth.co.uk
This is a working venue equipped with Midas Pro 2, Avid Profile and Avolites Pearl Expert sound and lighting desks. In this superbly equipped adaptable space are Nexo line array and point source systems alongside comprehensive and versatile stage monitoring and lighting systems.
With a capacity of 600 standing and 350 seated 'The Crossing' hosts many performances and events throughout the year, not only from college students and external clients but also visiting performers. Live sound and event production students will have the opportunity to provide the technical support for these performances and you will also be able to attend performances from visiting artists and talks from industry professionals.
In addition to the practical sound and lighting modules, you will also study event management, stage management, live sound design and health and safety alongside personal career development.
This is a nationally recognised qualification and part of Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

What are the entry requirements?
Entry to the course depends on a successful interview and based on your qualifications and experience. English and maths may be retaken alongside this course if necessary.
Where can I progress to next?
Students successfully completing the Extended Diploma can progress onto the college's HND in Popular Music Practice followed by our BA (Hons) Top-Up Degree. Higher Education at a university in a related subject or related work in the music industry are also options.
