Food Donations for Struggling Students South and City College Birmingham

Inspired by Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford's Free School Meals campaign, one of our Personal Development Mentors, James Bashford, has launched a festive food collection campaign specifically for South & City College students.

The campaign aims to provide food for students who are receiving free school meals, living in hostels or shared accommodation, living independently, or any other circumstances where students are struggling.

In order to help these students have a better Christmas, donations of various non-perishable food items, including festive treats such as mince pies and selection boxes, have been made.

Our wonderful Transport department are busy moving the donated food from our campus receptions to our Longbridge (Bournville College) campus, and transporting the completed festive boxes back to campuses for distribution to students.

James said, “This can only work if we all come together. I think it would be nice that our staff and students contribute towards the project so that they can feel part of it too and know that they have made a difference in people lives.”

The generosity of our students and staff means that multiple boxes have been gifted already - and the collections continue.

A big 'well done' to James and all the students and staff who have donated so far!

If you'd like to donate, please bring non-perishable goods to any of our campus receptions.
