This is a two-year, full time course and is held on four days a week. Alongside your sports studies you can join either our football or cricket academy and participate in the National Colleges Leagues and Tournaments. Other units you will study include: technical and tactical skills in sport, the athlete’s lifestyle, sports coaching, practical team sports, current issues in sport, exercise, health & lifestyle, instructing physical activity, exercise sports injuries, analysis of sports performance, rules & regulations & officiating in sport, and organising sports events.
Key areas of study include:
• Anatomy and physiology
• Nutrition
• Psychology
• Training methods
You will need four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including maths and English or a Diploma in Sport Level 2 qualification.
You can seek employment in the sports and leisure industry in roles such as sports coaching, gym instructor or as a personal trainer. You may also wish to progress onto a higher education course.
