About the course

You will learn the basics of how to install electrical wiring systems, inspect and test electrical installations, provide technical information to customers and how to maintain a safe working environment. This course is essential to those wishing to become electrical installation engineers. As the fast track course is delivered in one year, you have the potential to achieve your qualification a year earlier than the standard route, making this the ideal route to get you into work or further study as soon as possible.

This Level 2 course is an ideal entry route into the electrical services industry where you will gain knowledge of domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installation. As an electrical engineer, you’ll be involved with designing, developing and maintaining electrical control systems, machinery and equipment.

What are the entry requirements?

You need GCSEs Grade C (4) or above in maths and English skills or a Level 1 electrical qualification.

Where can I progress next?

With trained installation electricians in high demand, you can progress to the Diploma in Electrical Installation Level 3 (2365) course at the college, seek entry-level employment or go on to an Apprenticeship. You could work in a very wide range of sectors, including transport networks, power generation, transmission and distribution, manufacturing, building services, telecommunications as well as scientific and military research.
