About the course

This one-week course is for those who are already qualified electricians and those working in associated trades, such as electrical technicians, lift engineers, maintenance electricians and domestic installers, to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest regulations. The course is designed to give an insight into British Regulations in accordance with the British Standards third amendment 2018 to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations which covers all UK electrical installations - industrial, commercial and domestic.

The wiring regulations course is theory-based, providing the foundation knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations 2018. It covers the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems in industrial, commercial, and domestic installations.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications are required, however you will be assessed at interview.

Where can I progress next?

Upon completion of this course you will be able to progress to Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing courses. Equally, you will be able to continue your employment, supported by further professional accreditation.



Is this course free?

At South & City College Birmingham, we offer a wide range of courses for most age groups.

School Leavers: For learners who are between the ages of 16 to 18, studies will be free.

Adults: For learners who are aged 19 or over, the cost of study will depend on the course or programme that you choose. Some courses may even be free*. If the course is not free, students aged 19 at the start of their programme who wish to study need to either pay their course fees, or take out an Advanced Learning Loan.

*Eligibility criteria applies. There may be an exception for students aged 19 or over that are taking their first full Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A Levels and Access to HE Diplomas), who could be supported by the Learner Support Fund, or free adult course funded by the WMCA.
